A lot of people in India enjoy riding a bike and do it as an exercise to stay fit. What most people don't know is that cycling has been recognized as a sport in India, as per the Cycling Federation of India (CFI) and if you are passionate enough, you can turn yourself into a national champion.
But to move up the ladder, you need to train and eat like a national champion.
Make sure that you train yourself in a way that increases your endurance and power. You can go on long rides to improve your endurance and throw in a powerful set for a few minutes while you're at it to increase your power. Focusing on your core will build your stability and speed. Keep yourself hydrated and get plenty of rest after heavy training sessions.
For faster speed, it is also important that you and your bike both weigh less, but that does not mean that you need to starve yourself. To cope with intensive training, you will need a healthy, protein-rich, and low-fat diet like lean chicken, eggs, fish, etc. Ensure that you also eat lots of carbohydrates and maintain a good water and salt intake.
Training to become a national champion is not easy, especially considering the long races that test your perseverance and strength. However, if you believe in yourself and have the determination, there's nothing you cannot do!
