Cycling Through Amdavad

0 reviews (0 ratings)

Ahmedabad, known as Amdavad in the local language, is the largest city in the state of Gujarat. The Sabarmati river flows through its center. On the west bank is the Gandhi Ashram at Sabarmati, which displays the living quarters and artifacts of the spiritual leader. On the other side of the river is the Calico Textile Museum, once the seat of a fabric merchant, with an important collection of antique and modern fabrics.

The best way to explore this city is through cycling. You can see places like Sidi Sayed ki Jaali, Teen Darwaza, etc on your bike. But if you want to escape the heat of daytime, you can cycle here at night as well, under the watchful eyes of a thousand stars. Places like Happy Street and Sabarmati Riverfront are the pinnacles of cycling.

People would expect a few food trucks lined up in a food street, but Happy Street is much more than that. It looks like the legacy of the old city has been carried over to West Ahmedabad. Happy Street is adorned with first-of-its-kind ancient-looking walls with carvings, fort structures, and enchanting lighting to enhance the heritage atmosphere. The walls of the Jaipuri Patthar depict the famous icon of Ahmedabad: the Teen Darwaza.

Everyone marveled at the transformation that went from tables and plastic chairs to a vibrant street with lights and historic walls. Previously, people had difficulty walking at night. It now has a separate cycle lane as well as a pedestrian walkway. It is open 24/7!

The Sabarmati Riverfront serves as a major attraction in the city of Ahmedabad to residents and tourists alike. The riverfront is just over 10 km long and some of the features it provides include walkways over the river, breath-taking gardens, exciting amusement parks, golf courses, and water sports parks. Thats not all; it provides a stunning view of the river. You can choose just to take a walk along the serene river too. Boating activities are a popular attraction of the riverfront, with 3 boating centers constructed and operational as of today. It is open from 9 am-9 pm.

So, hop on your cycles and go explore this beautiful city.
